Years of steadily accumulating research and practice tells us that parent/family involvement is one of the strongest predictors of children’s school readiness success. Parent/Family involvement begins with the first contact a family has with a program. It is vital that programs organize its program so that policies, staffing and activities reinforce the goals of the overarching Head Start vision. This handbook provides a framework that parent involvement coordinators, ERSEA coordinators, family services managers, other staff who work with families as well as directors can use to ensure successful parent/family involvement strategies are mobilized to maximize your program’s success.
